Ortler pool & garden

NEW 2023
At the Ortler, the mountains aren’t the only summertime attraction; now there’s also our newly renovated pool! Not that there was anything wrong with the old pool in our front garden, which served three generations of our family very well. But we decided it was time for a change and sent the old one into “retirement”!

And when change comes, it is far-reaching: our renovated garden spa and wellness area brings with it a brand-new pool, jacuzzi, relaxation area under the pergola, as well as several new contour loungers. The view from our lawn looks out across the green valley below — in Nature’s Lounge! Our terrace also receives a complete makeover. We assure you that your Pimm's No. 1 gin cocktail will taste even better when enjoyed on our renovated terrace, far from all the hustle and bustle!

And that’s not all. A newly built footpath from the Ortler Hotel takes you right to the nearest bus stop. Great news not only for our kids, who can quickly catch the bus to school and back again, but also convenient for our guests. Sometimes it’s better to leave the car in the renovated hotel garage and enjoy the convenience of reliable local public transport.

Our garden terrace has even more to offer. Besides our comfortable designer loungers with parasols, there a heated outdoor jacuzzi-whirlpool open all year round. You can think of it as an extension of our sauna spa. This is especially welcome in wintertime after a day in the outdoors. Imagine coming back to the hotel and sweating it out in the sauna, before soaking in the warm waters of the jacuzzi. Feel the water jets massaging your tired muscles, and you’ll notice how the warm water contrasts with the bracingly cold outdoor air. You don’t even need to bring any bathrobes or towels to the pool. We take care of that, in exchange for a small fee: keeping it sustainable – and helping the environment.

Health & Spa in the greenery

“Me-Time” at the Ortler
Don’t waste your time searching for the “Ortler Beauty Centre” or “Ortler Spa” on the internet. We don’t offer Indian massages, seaweed wraps or Shiatsu. What we do offer here, in Castelrotto/Kastelruth, are the natural benefits provided by these pristine mountains. As one of the unique UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites, the majestic Dolomites have all the treatments you might need: pure mountain air to breathe, plenty of sunshine, and stunning mountain views!

Although we don’t call ourselves a spa hotel, the doors to our small but exclusive wellness area remain open both in winter as well as in summer (specific days only). Here’s what we offer: Finnish sauna, Turkish steam bath, Kneipp bath, massage showers and relaxation room.
In winter our sauna stays open and can be used by our guests free of charge. In summer, it stays open on two days per week. If access is requested on any other days, you can reserve one of the saunas (or even the entire sauna area) – just ask us and we’ll let you know the cost.
